Given the declining state of the Great Barrier Reef, this project aims to educate viewers about the causes of coral deterioration and highlight their role in this process. The goal is to inspire actionable steps that contribute to “SAVING THE REEF”.
What is a "Design Timescape"?
DESIGN TIMESCAPES
“A novel visual thinking tool that not only challenges designers to visualize the relationships between design and societal shifts but encourages the development of visual argumentation for design proposals”
By utilising the design timescape framework with a vector art style, the project is enhanced through the imaginative structure with clean lines and bold colours typical of vector graphics to create an interesting yet simple design.
This style is appealing and accessible to a wide range of ages, ensuring the message resonates with diverse audiences.

INITIAL DRAFT
A commonality between all design timescapes is that they all possess a standout feature.
In my initial design draft, I envisioned a pathway resembling a reef, with a prominent, central coral structure that appears “bleached”, symbolising the lifeless, damaged state of the coral.

FINAL ARTWORK
To reach more people and spread the message, I recreated the artwork as printed brochures. These brochures could be handed out in places like aquariums to further promote the cause.
